the end (for now)

sorry to say, but as you may have noticed, the blog has not been updated in a couple months. i seem to have lost the will to do it anymore. it was becoming too much work and not enought fun anymore. thanks to all those that read it and left comments. hopefully at some point in the future, things will be back and running again, but for now, ice cream has been eaten.

if you are still interested, here is a link to my book i made:

all future projects will be posted in some form or another on my terminus page:

i suck at keeping a schedule

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

this month has been all about getting back on the podcast horse and trying to catch up with what is owed to the people. not that i know if anyone is actually listening to these, but it is still a fun excercise anyways.

here is:

june 2006 podcast - totally fucking late

1 - intro (david holmes)
2 - enuff - dj shadow feat q-tip and lateef (from 'the outsider')
3 - smiley faces (live) - gnarls barkley (from smiley faces cd5)
4 - a peak in time - cut chemist (from 'the audience's listening')
5 - canto de ossanha - jurassic 5 (from 'feedback')
6 - crazy as she goes - the legion of doom (mp3)
7 - outro (david holmes)

notes:

-not too crazy about that dj shadow track. the more i hear from his new record, the more it sounds like shitty unkle, part two.
-keeping with tradition of ending each album with an instrumental, jurassic 5 turn in probably one of two good songs on their new record. bring back cut chemist. please.
-being not really crazy (!) about mashups, this one blows my mind, also managing to squeeze in 'the message' as well. fits nicely thematically as well.
-i think i need to do an entire podcast devoted to david holmes film work. dude rules. possibly the only thing i am looking forward to about 'ocean's thirteen' is another rad score by him.

june podcast download

i swear i will get the july podcast done this month. promise.

france recognizes genius

as usual, it takes europeans to recognize the true genius of art. in this case, ronan at guts magazine saw it fit to print a two page spread of the nintendo bathtub. i finally got around to jpegging the pdf, so you can enjoy it here. we haven't got a paper copy yet, but he said it's on the way. yes!

when were you ever in a french men's magazine?

see the (somewhat underwhelming) guts.fr web post here.

is anyone really surprised

that i was told to 'act more professionally' while on the PA?

fuck those squares.

another red flag

that maybe this new dj shadow album is going to be less than stellar-

little bit of gondry

for those unlucky to not own michel gondry's director's label dvd comes this little slice of genius. a short commercial for smirnoff that contains some very early (but still quite nice) bullet time, as well as the best transitions ever.

michel gondry smirnoff commercial

and while we're talking gondry, a trailer for his new insane looking film:

the science of sleep trailer

it's in french, but that doesn't really seem to matter. you'll see.

master of champions

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

yes, once again gnarls barkley has created something very special. dudes are making andre 3000 look like a one hit wonder. anyways, this is the video for 'smiley faces' and let's just say that it has dennis hopper, dean stockwell, the clash, david bowie, duke ellington, the thriller video and bob marley in it. fucking radical shit.

also i saw master of champions on fox the other night and that was great too. this is a guy who juggles fire and plays ddr at the same time:
